This event will not be a lesson on what “Twitter” is—instead it will be a discussion of how to manage the process of integrating new media into your press operation, and what the pros and cons of utilizing new media are.
Our featured speaker with be Major General Kevin Bergner, the U.S. Army’s Chief of Public Affairs, who has revolutionized the Army’s use of social networking sites. We will also hear from Senator McCain’s and Senator McCaskill’s in-house new media experts. Finally, we’ll receive a presentation from New Media Strategies on the next wave of new media. They will also discuss the new social network for Hill staff they just rolled out with National Journal called 3121.
Topics will include: How many of these new social media outlets are really effective for broadening our outreach? Which are really worth staff time? How much of this type of communication should be off the cuff and how much should be strategized?
